Broken RAM slot?

Hey guys,

Just bought some new Corsa GEIL Ram. When i plug it into the DDR3 1 slot, the computer powers up for about 5 seconds and then shuts down and starts all over again.

When i put a stick into the DDR3 2 slot, it works fine.

When i put the old 4 GB stick in the DDR3 1 slot, i get the same power failure. The original ram was in DDR3 2 slot so i've never had ram in this faulty slot.

Is this a faulty RAM slot?

Possibly.

Or you may have over tightened the CPU cooler.

Or you may have damaged pins in the CPU socket (if an Intel processor from the last few years).

Or you may have a motherboard which prefers you to use slot 2 before slot 1.
