Broken red ring on Canon Lens!

Hello All,

Noticed the red ring on my 24-105 lens was broken with a bit missing (How ??).

I cannot find the missing bit so now have 2/3 of a (loose) red ring. Could glue it in?

Does anybody know if these red rings can be purchased? OR is it only replaceable in a Canon service?

Anybody know please?

It's a common problem with that lens for some reason.

It requires partial dissassembly to replace.

Shame - I hoped it might be warm it up in hot water and slip it on!

would be fairly costly to replace and I suspect only Canon have the parts.

How about Sugru? It is moldable and sets like rubber? Might be a solution to fill the gap in the ring and hold it in place.

The build quality of the 24-105 is pretty poor, it doesn't really deserve the red ring.

I'd just secure what remains with a little silicone and wait until it ever needs a service to have it replaced.

Thanks for feedback - as has been said, not needed, just annoying - but now I have something to blame when my images aren't "perfect" !!

Just put a red elastic band round it

The red ring is only for showing off with anyway.

Same as my solid gold rings round my Nikon Lenses.
I believe those are 24k gold :rolleyes:
