Was going to go to the Tech guys at a competitor, and buy a new router there if need be, but I thought I would ask here
It is that time of the year again when wireless on my router dies. The router sits on a windowsill in an upstairs room where cable internet comes into the house. Unfortunatly it is also next to a computer cupboard and a bunch of wires to printers, monitor, tv, sky box...etc. So when someone wants to pull out all of the cables it creates a problem.
After an episode from my sister, all of the computing area in the afor mentioned room is in a mess. I plug everything in where it needs to go and restart the internet (unplug modem and router, wait 2 minutes, plug modem, wait for lights, plug router). Wired works fine (xbox 360, laptop, ps3 all tried and work). Now the wireless only broadcasts on and off and nothing is able to connect to it (PS3, iPhone and Laptop). I've restarted the internet and router a few times, checked all settings, reset all of the security and reset the router from the button at the back of the unit, using routerlogin.net each time to restore settings from knowledge and a backup. The router is a Wireless N Netgear. I would like to know if it is recoverable, it doesnt matter if it isn't because I'll be reimbursed £80 for a new router. If that is the case are there any recommendations for a high end router £60-£100? Thanks.
