Hello. I had to undo all the cables yesterday as I built a new PC desk. I connected the pc back up again with speakers but for some reason the speakers don't work any more? It recognises there are speakers plugged in but nothing plays through them. I have plugged my phone in to them and nothing happens so it is the speakers that are the problem. I have the Logitech x-230's and have had them for a while now. Surely they wouldn't of broke just because I had to unplug all the cables and plug them back in?

You didn't plug the speakers back in while you were playing sound through them did you?

First things to check:

Have you got them plugged into the PC through the correct connection?

If you turn them all the way up can you hear any sort of hiss out of them?

Is your PC turned up?

If the speakers have a power light does it come on?

Are they plugged into the power supply?

Can you plug some headphones into the PC audio out, can you hear anything?

Are the cables all securily connected?

If it is indeed not working with your phone there is a chance you have toasted them.

He could only blow them that way if he had volume up max. And even then it's difficult. I do it a lot with my X-530s and it hasn't done anything to them.

OP, have you tried a different wall outlet? Is the switch on the back of the sub flicked to on? Is the power LED on?

The PC won't be detecting them, it will just be detecting the presence of a jack, if there were no speakers connected it wouldn't tell the difference.

Spleen,

Yeah I know, I do that all the time when I am plugging up my 5.1s to make sure the audio is working as I work around, but the first time I did it to a set of logitech's, BANG!

There is no hiss when I turn them all the way up.

Headphones DO work in the jack

Sounds like ive fried my speakers some how. Grrr, I wont be buying anymore now. lol

Give Logitech support a call they are great and will sort the problem out for you, they will probably send you the new versions of them speakers. Even if you are only just out of warranty they will try to help. One reason I buy logitech they are very helpful when things go wrong and have some good products.

Just call them and explain the problem to them and see what they say first and see if they even mention warranty, they may know of a fault with the speakers and not ask even for warranty. Also you have the Sales of goods act on your side, i'm guessing things like speakers should last more then 2 years ;).
