I have had a swatch watch since christmas and today noticed that the timing hand (second) was not returning to the right point on the dial, instead returning to a point 2 seconds early. I took the battery out and put it back in hoping it would reset the positions, now both the second timing hand and the tenths timing hand return to the wrong position.

Any ideas?

it just needs resetting, ( maybe lubing the movement ) an easy and cheap job for any watch maker

try this first

Press both buttons simultaneously, all three dials should spin 360 degrees

press the reset (bottom right) button, the 1/10th second hand should spin 360 degrees. Press the start/stop button (upper right) and you should see the 1/10th second hand move one click. Keep pressing the upper right button until the 1/10th second hand is aligned (vertical).

Then press the reset button. The second hand should spin 360 degrees. Set the second hand using the start/stop button, as above.

When you have set all three dials in this way, press both buttons simultaneously, and all three dials should spin 360 degrees.

Thanks rotty, that wasn't the right proceedure but once I knew what was wrong I managed to find it and now it is set properly. What casues it to go out of whack like that?

For reference my watch is a Swatch Irony and the reset procedure is to pull the crown out 1 click and then use the buttons to move the hands.

these things happen with chronos, often no real cause but sometimes it is down to friction and dryness in the chrono subdials

if it keeps happening then a clean and lube should sort it
