Recently my hard drive has been locking up when loading my documents and things like that, on resource monitor it shows the hard drive going at 100%. Its a Crucial 256GB SSD by the way and before recently was working smooth as butter.

I recently moved a massive steam file from the hard drive to my secondary mech hard drive it was about 100GB of games.

Now I decided to format the computer but after I install Windows it never actually loads it just says Windows is checking your computer performance and nothing happens.

I removed the CPU overclock and the motherboard it set to AHCI not IDE. What can I do?

I will try looking but since the drive has worked well for a year surely there is a simpler fix?

It finally booted Windows after half an hour but looking at the resource monitor..

It's worth a try because if you've had random problems with opening files it could be the drive even though it's been working ok previously. I had a M4 that worked ok for 6 months and then gave up the ghost.

I'm not saying a firmware update will definitely fix it, but it's quite easy and well worth a shot in my opinion. I'm guessing you already have your stuff backed up.
