Broken Windows XP? any way restore files

Oh dear me, i was trying to partition my HD so i could install Linux, but it went horribly wrong and I now get

 error loading operating system

is there any chance of getting Documents back? or do i have to reinstall windows XP

Thanks for the reply, tried those. It said too many errors could not recover.

Wanna check one more time, there is no any other way of recovering Documents? or I'm gona format
