hey guys,

I've got a server (2003 std x86) that I'm using as a print server.

My issue is that Brother (in their wisdom.....) have decided that they wont make the windows 7 x64 driver available for download to the public but have gotten Microsoft to include them in their Windows Updates.

Is is not helpful at all as I'm now in a situation where I have several x64 clients unable to connect to printers as the x64 driver is unavailable.

When I try to add the printer manually to their machines (normally done via log on script) it saids searching windows updates but due to the firewall and proxy settings it doesn't find any anf therefore cant install.

I'm completely stuck on how the hell I'm supposed to get x64 drivers for these brother printers??!!??

Anyone got any perls of wisdom they wish to share??

Cheers in advance :)

I successfully used Vista x64 drivers on Windows 7 for my old Brother printer. Can't guarantee it will work with all models though.

printer models are;

HL-1850
HL-5130
HL-5140

there are a few more but I haven't got them to hand right now.

I'm just playing with WSUS to see if I can download them and then pull them out of the content folder.

edit: isn't working at the moment......Can't find the correct drivers in the update cataloge :(
