Brothers having PC problems

I dunno where im ment to put this so sorry if its in the wrong place

But as the title says, He is
So whats happend is that about 2 weeks ago his main pc started playing up kept rebooting on him, and one night he switched it off and the morning, he couldnt get it back on again the pc turns on but theres nothing on the monitor no windows nothing so he took the RAM out and you should get a continious beep, which he didnt and so he took everything else out and tryed still nothing, so gave up he said it may be the PSU brought a new one and now still nothing and about 2 nights ago his second PC did that same! and now having the same problems with that hes tryed the ms dot stuff etc and still nothing, can anyone tell us whats going? cause it feel like a bit of a curse lol hes tryed everything now could it be the motherboard gone?

What are the specs of the systems?

Tried a CMOS reset just in case.

Plugged into surge protection plug?
Wierdly I had one that stopped PCs booting occsionally. Took literally months to diganose that fault lol

Done a CMOS reset, did nothing

and nope not in a Surge protection plug

I have no idea, may just have been a bit sensitive I guess.It went on for ages, I replaced and rebuilt two PCs and both kept exhibiting the same issue.
It was only when I was stress testing one that I realised that on the left side of my desk I never had any issues, on the right where I sat I kept getting the issues.
That only left one thing different...the surge protected extension.
Swapped extensions left to right and lo and behold the issue swapped from right to left side of my desk.

The PCs would get as far as BIOS then stop. I am guessing the initial surge of draw just about tripped the protection but not quite so the monitor etc stayed on at a locked BIOS.

2 pcs exhibiting same symptoms. Look for a common factor (obviously). Power source as suggested above. Has your brother swapped any components from 1st to 2nd pc? Then, I don't know much about virus, rootkits etc but I would guess he has duplicate software of some description on each pc. Is his software all from a reliable source?

Hes fixed one pc Thermal paste leaked out of the cpu >.< and wasnt booting it so put another cpu in and its working fine now, but his main pc still isnt working :/
