And I am sorry but ho could anyone like the look of a plain boreing
Lian-Li? or even the horrible cooler master cases.

You have less taste than in flight meals :p

Lian Li are not boring (notice the lack of an "e"), they are very well designed and look far better than any gaming case plus the build quality is top notch. As Yewen says looks are up to the individual but I have had 5 cases in 3 years, all of which I grew to dislike apart from my Lian Li.

This really made me laugh as it is like a re-run of a discussion I had with my Dad on Sunday. He's got a 7 year-old Mercedes, he got it when he retired. It's beautifully made (the last of the old Mercedes quality, before Daimler Chrysler cost cutting) and it looks fabulous, in a conservative kind of way.

My Lotus Elise is made of plastic, I think it looks fantastic - Dad says the splitters and intakes are hideous. The build quality is terrible - the roof is a bit of rolled up canvas and everything rattles. It wasn't cheap either, for a car with a Toyota engine. I also have a Peugeot Estate for daily use!

Anyway - the point is - horses for courses. Leave the taste thing out of it. Lian-Li are not for everyone. They are conservative (apart from the shell thing, which no-one bought :D ). Thermaltake are not for everyone either.

Sorry for the long post. Oh - and I would have spent twice as much on the processor and half as much on the motherboard. And the Powercolor 850XT or OcUK 6800GS are better graphics cards for similar money. Anything less than an AC Freezer 64 is a waste of money - you could have bought one if you hadn't wasted £5 on the SATA cable.

I like my computers like my cars - performance oriented.

It doesn't look the best CPU cooler but it looks like he’s going for a noiseless system and that SATA cable is pretty good imo :P.

You have to be careful posting anything that doesnt praise Lian-Li on this forum lol. filled with proper LL fanboys tbh ;)

/runs
I agree it’s full of LL and CM fan boys.

Should be a sign when you enter CC **beware of the Lian Li boys**

They do make some nice case's, the PC6/7 series are ok, little on the plain side (for me anyway).

The V series is just crusty looking, nothing special.

Just food for thought.

I post in here a lot, I am a build quality freak, and it just happens that Lian Li; and old coolermasters are the best cases for build quality. That means I like them.

If people like the styling then I recommend them; if you read CC a little you will notice that I do ocassionally recommend the odd Thermaltake or gaming case to thoose who want one.

Thermaltake are by FAR, astronomically, intergalactic save the children; distance better than any other gaming case manufacturer, to the point of me considering getting a Soprano/Tsunami for a project. I do recommend them when people do not like the Lian Li styling.

If people were more vocal about the Pro's and Con's of the Thermaltake cases then it would add a different viewpoint to the debate. This is not Graphics Cards; the 'Lian Li Fanboys' will engage in debate and just mention build quality and 6 years as a top end case looking like new after, and that will be it.

Gaming case people pop up ocassionally and there are some very interesting debates, like Vinny making one of the longest average post length threads I have ever seen, about if cases over £20 were worth it. Cracking thread, and added in a lot more information than could be expected on the differences between people, there choice in cases, and how little looks matter when recommending cases.

When you recommend something to someone, you really should only do it with kit you have first hand experience of, I mention when I have not as I am just quoting what my mind's impression is from a picture / review then.

If I have used 4 cases, 1 is far superior and cheaper, but looks boring. Someone asks for the best case to get out of the 4 as they like the look of all of them, I would recommend the far superior, cheaper and boring looking one; due to it being ideal.

If however they say they do not like the look of it, I will think about the next best alternative; and weigh the good and bad points of recommending that case to them; THEN I post.

I personally hate the Akasa Eclipse, ask WJA96 ( :p We had some nice arguments) but it is a awsome case, its drawback is a plastic front, other than that it is the best all rounder there is, with cooling to rival, and beat, anything out there. I recommend it, but would NEVER own one again, horrid, ugly front that just made me want to get rid of it after a day. Does not mean it is a bad case, just that it is not for me.

If something is good, it will be given credit. The 'Lian Li Fanboys' on here may be partly due to me, but considering most are comming from Lanboys and general gaming cases, it has to say something for the superiority of the Lian Li design, the amount of people happy with PC7+'s from this forum from mine and others recommendations makes me feel perfectly comfortable with recommending them, I have a pile of 40 (ish) emails from people saying thanks for the recommendation, plus a load mroe from MSN on the PC7+ being a super buy.

If you want to acuse us of being 'Fanboys' then please make a thread, engage in a debate, and see what our opinions on things really are, not just read the first page of CC and see the Lian Li recommendations and then acuse us of being fanboys.

If something is so vastly superior and super value for money, then why not recommend it to others?

Its only a cases lol, chill guys. I personally also think hes barking mental getting a thermaltake, especially at that price, and even more because he could get a wavemaster for a silimlar price. Its his choice guys, and you can feel free to go 'i told you so' in a few weeks time when hes complining of it falling to bits :p

lol, a predictable response, lol.

ok, you are not a Lian-Li fanboy if it makes you feel better.

you are a fan of Lian-Li, and recommend them practically every time someone asks about a new case.

yes their build quality is good, they look good, they cool good and god damn they are good value for money.

eyahappy?

No but ive heard nothing but reviews saying pay the extra and go coolermaster or Lian Li. The build quality is meant to be bad in comparison due to sharp edges etc which makes them a lot more of a pain than cases already are for working in.

Erm, what was the point with that?

I asked to be proved wrong, how is that a predictable response.

Also, not all are good value for money, there is a fair bit of rubbish that Lian Li have, and still do, make.
