Browser issues after re-install

I have a wee problem. After doing a fresh install a few days ago my back button has had a bit of a spaz. Whenever I use the back button on my mouse or browser, for some reason, it "stops" the action (I say "stops" because this is what it says in the browser action bar at the bottom).

The page loads, but in a flash it pops back to the page I was going "back" from. I've tried re-installing Firefox and had a poke about in my internet options but have had no luck. IE has the same problem, so I'm assuming it's a system issue, rather than an application issue but I am completely stumped; I have no idea where to start looking.

In addition to this every window (browser, Explorer etc) has started to scroll to the bottom, without any input from me. As though the page down key is stuck down.

A I said, this is a completely new install using XP Pro and FF 3.0.4. The stuff that has been installed is the latest XP updates from the MS update page.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Is it a special back button on a mouse/keyboard, such as Logitech? If so, check the software (Logitech uses SetPoint).

Yup, I've tried all the device drivers (both Windows and Logitech) but the problem persists. I'm using an old PS/2 keyboard now which seems to have fixed the problem, so I can only assume that all the updates don't like my Logitech Elite.

Meh, it's an excuse to buy a new kb, at least :)
