Browser slow with new SSD

I fitted a new SSD with windows 7 and browsing seems to be slow, facebook is the worst. I switched to my old drive and browsing is fast so something is causing problems on my new drive. My internet speed is fine so it's not that
I've tested for malware etc and I have the same firefox version on both drives so any ideas what it could be?

explorer loads slow as well, not quite so bad but it loaded facebook in a narrow strip down the centre of the screen. I'm going to disable Avast antivirus to see if it's causing problems by scanning the webpages

Was this a clone to the SSD? I assume Avast still uses secure dns these days? I would disable this.

A fresh install to the SSD with nothing cloned, the old drive is still connected with desktop shortcuts to some of the games on it etc.

disabling Avast made no difference. The old drive has the same version Firefox and Avast etc but loads pages really fast so I have no idea what is causing this.

Have you installed all drivers? Windows up to date?

Yes,all up to date but I'm now convinced that Firefox is unstable on this drive for some reason, I've just installed Opera and it loads pages fast

Have you tried creating a new profile in Firefox

I would still disable secure dns even hitting disable avast may not fix that.
