Browsers not connecting

Hi guys,

Got a weird issue with the browsers on my main rig (Vista 64). It's connected via a netgear wireless adapter to my Sky router. Everything's up to date (drivers, browsers etc) and it's connected with 100% signal. The internet works fine - msn, steam etc all work perfectly.

The problem is that the browsers, both Firefox and II, just won't connect. I've tried everything that I can, cleared the cache, temp files etc, II ran it's diagnostic and said it was connected properly but I just keep getting the "Unable to Connect" message.

It's worked fine for the last 2 years so I'm clueless as to what's happened. Any ideas?

Thanks

Try turning your firewall off. Can you get web pages now? If so you know it is your firewall so reinstall it. If it is the windows firewall go to a DOS prompt and type netsh firewall reset and press enter.

If it is not your firewall at fault are you able to ping websites?

If you cannot ping websites open a DOS prompt type netsh winsock reset and press enter then reboot PC when asked to.

It's windows firewall. Still doesn't work with it turned off and the commands in dos prompt don't work either. I can still ping sites, average ping over half a dozen sites is 106ms and it's still working in safe mode.

Might end up having to start again :(
