Browsing issues

Hope someone can help.

Just upgraded to IE8 and now sometimes when I boot up my PC Overclockers and certain other sites are unavailable.But!............if I reboot my PC they work again :confused:

Bit vague I know but any help would be great

I'm on Virgin Cable 20meg.

Have done full Virus and spyware scans and has all come up queen.

That's still a lot vague; what it sounds like you're describing is the error page you get when the DNS lookup fails.
When this is broken, has your machine even got an IP from the router? Can it ping the router, or an IP on the internet?

Is IE set to use a proxy? Is it the same if you use another browser?

I only get the problem with certain websites including OCUK and OCUK forums and Windows update ,but sites like BBC or Avforums are ok :confused:

But when I reboot they are ok again.I upgraded from IE7 to IE8 and thats when it started.

IE is not set to use a proxy

I use no use other browser.

If I boot my lappy up which is connected via wireless all the websites are ok in IE7 and Firefox, which makes me belive it is a IE8 issue.

What I have done is go into my router setting and release and renew my DHCP.

Not saying anymore as I don't want to temp fate

My mate has this on his ADSL connection with IE8 he's had to use firefox to overcome the issue.

It'll depend on OS, but it's somewhere in the properties for your network connection; there'll be settings to either get the settings automatically or manually specify them.

Paste the output from (Start, run, cmd) ipconfig /all and ping [router's ip] when it doesn't work.

I think IE8 is so slow it is giving these mesages - I have just "downgraded" to IE8 and it seems very slow and hesitant. Firefox hasn't shown any changes - still faster.

Its all points to being an IE8 problem so have installed Firefox and so far no problems.

Well I spoke too soon

Got the same problem in Firefox too.

So do you think maybe my router is playing or just problems with my cable connection?

Have you recently ran any speed tweaks? This sounds like you've been messing with your tcp settings and barfed it.

From the router side make sure it's using 1500 as the MTU.

I have not change any settings anywhere :confused:
