I have a new BT broadband router, with up to 8mbps download speeds. I use Firefox (latest) as my browser. My internet security software is Kaspersky 2006.
My problem is that if I browse the net whilst downloading using P2P client my browser is painfully slow. I do not allocate all my bandwidth to Bearshare, and I have routed Bearshare ports , also I tried browsing with my KIS2006 disabled, but browsing is still very slow. As soon as I close Bearshare my browsing speed increases? Any ideas please. Thanks :)

cut it down to 10KB/sec
20KB/sec is still a lot seeing as 25KB/sec is roughly the max upload you can achieve.

8mbps (MaxDSL as he's with BT) is 50KB/s upload, but limiting to 10KB/s should still do the trick.

Thanks guys that seems to have sorted it

If you want to tweak it more have a look at the "max connections" setting of whatever P2P client you use. Too many connections can slow your overal speed too.

I have the same problem, only with UTorrent on my sisters PC. The same setup as this guy has got..Kaspersky..voyager 205 router..ADSLMax(connected @ 6.5Mbps) and Firefox. Even when nothing is uploading and UTorrent is running Firefox will not even connect to the homepage
I have set a port for UTorrent in router config and tryed re-installing the router via the BT cd. Any help on this would be great as its been bugging me for 3 days now, Thanks.

if utorrent is running then uploading will occur, unless you arent seeding files? what have you set your upload speed to ?

I have the same issue with limewire and bitlord, i assumed there was an issue with bt or the router as on telewest at uni on the same pc i have no such problems. With me its nothing to do with uploads as i have it set to 10kb/s and limewirre never shows its uploading anything. (bitlord and limewire not running at the same time)

The downloads in UTorrent are paused, so nothing is been uploaded or downloaded. With it minimized I still cant get the homepage on firefox, it just says "Unable to connect Retry?"
