off up to bruntingthorpe tomorrow as Dangerous doing some video work there and i have blagged coming along and using the track when its not in use by those that have paid for it!

want to see what i can get out of the M5 before its sold. currently the best i have had is just over 180mph. so hoping for at least 186mph - 300 kph. but 200mph would be ideal!

all figures will be recorded with driftbox. :D

I honestly think you'll struggle to hit 186 and slow down in time for the bottom bend, there is no way you'll get the double ton. As a guide you need approx 700 brake in a cossie to hit 200 and slow down, and even then its touch and go!

I got to 163 when I was there and then blew my engine as I lost my coolant at 160  but there was more in it. Anything over 170 is quick.

Make sure you take note of where to brake and have fun!!

Not a cat in hells chance it'll do 200mph unless its running a couple of big Turbo's. There was a nicely tuned one at VMax last time which I think was in the mid 180's so I think 180ish is about as much as you'll get. Might pop along if I find time, just to look at the English Electric Lightnings of course, which are a hell of a drive to get to as you have to drive down this straight bit for a couple of miles...... :D

EDIT: 182mph was what the tuned one hit, and that was around 570bhp I believe.

but the vmax is from a standing start where as i will be able to get a run up around the corner to the straight so will already be doing some speed.

just about to head off now, so will report back later with the results!:)

The start straight at VMax is the opposite side to the main straight, you still have to loose lots of speed from the standing start to enter the main straight, quick cars were seeing 140mph entering the braking area for the bend that leads onto the main straight so a run up will add nothing to your speed on the runway as at VMax you have a massive run up too ;)

Good luck and enjoy though!

Good effort, my heap hit the limiter at 160mph and was going no further, but even without it wouldn't have got close to 175.5mph, maybe 163 - 165 at best, no more.

When I was last there the only thing topping 200 was the Ruf. Even an SLR 722 was topping out at 194 although it was a hot day which doesn't help.

today wasnt exactly cold!

didnt have the full braking area as they were testing lorries at the end. so about 100m off the end, maybe good for another 1 or 2 mph.

think the RUF managed 200mph today although not sure if that was indicated.
