Now i did a bit of digging around and came to a conclusion that it was something to do with my memory as i was maxing out about 4 different programs at the same time. Im running Vista w/ 2gb DDR2 RAM (not sure on the speed tbh). Any thoughts?

All the error tells you is that windows encountered a problem and decided to shut down. It could be caused by anything unfortunately. You might as well do a memtest to rule that problem out though.

Whenever I've had blue screen's it's been caused by drivers. It might be worth reinstalling/upgrading your current drivers.
Definitely run memtest first though.

well if i remember correctly i had just installed the new nvidia drivers onto my 8500gt and it did guff up my display (ie L4D would not display correctly) so i did revert back to the ones it came with. also my 8500gt does not have a fan jsut a monstrosity of a heatsink and it runs at about 70C under gaming and 60C idle.
