BSEL MOD for £1.99

got a cheap dell the other day with a e2140 (dual 1.6GHz)

so i thought i'd give it a little boost using some silver tape from my local ...
which cost me £1.99, a Stanley knife, scissors and some patience

end result = 1GHz overclock in a dell system

idle temps = 33 - 34 degs, load 44-45 same as before the mod

used this guide and it worked perfectly, didnt need to do any vmods

was initially put off by the £15 pen or the £8 paint, but £1.99 is perfect

might aswell post this before someone else does lol

Silver tape? Is this the aluminium tape you can get on a roll? I have some of that lying around.

Is the memory now running overclocked or did you work out a way to alter the ratios?

memory is at 333mhz (667) 1:1

well the tape method worked out cheaper but its quite difficult if you have fat fingers lol

also i noticed that in bios it still reports as a e2140 and next to it it says at 1.6GHz
so i thought it didnt work at first, but i booted in windows as i had a hunch the bios would have read the cpu id info, and yep windows reported it correctly

i should have taken a picture of the cpu but i was anxious to try it out bah

how are temps though?

temps are the same tbh, 33-34 idle 44-45 on load

that's with the dell silent fans / sink

i didn't really expect the temps to go up more than 2-3 degrees as the voltage is the same and 1.6Ghz to 2.6Ghz is not much of a clock in reality, but good enough for an unclockable dell

Errr, I think my CPU already has a 1333mhz FSB. Damn :/

lol i think its only useful for 800 or 1066 bus processors

it will pass anything, its solid as a rock

OT/ ur subscore for cpu is 6.1? thats Windows 7 right? lol

well obviously your wrong, you got it there, so try it?

just use it in a simple circuit, the back of it is a conductive adhesive

like sticky conductive foil paper

ive done the bsel 333 and 1,4v mod to it using the same tape

sitting here perfectly at 3GHz

this time i took some pics

idles at 40 and loads at 50 in a silent dell again
