Morning guys.

Since having this Nvidia 650Ti i seem to be having the BSOD on startup or a black screen. Both will happen unless i actually press the reset button on the case and then it will boot fine.

I have done 2 clean installs of Win 7 Pro fully updated, one with using the windows drivers and the other downloading the latest from Nvidia, but it still has the same problems.

Specs

AMD FX8320
1 x 8Gb Corsair XM3 Ram
Asus M5A97 Motherboard
Nvidia 650TI Graphics Card

This indicates that an attempt to reset the display driver and recover from a timeout failed.

Comments:

A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: nvlddmkm.sys (NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 331.65 , NVIDIA Corporation).

--------
Currently away to try the beta drivers too see if this will solve it

-------

Installed Beta drivers and still the same problem on boot

The stop error seems quite random and there could be a number of things causing it. Been looking up the error for about 25 minutes now and I can't really find anything solid on it. If it were me and if the computer boots fine after a restart I'd get back into windows and start running diagnostics and monitor temperatures and voltages to look for potential causes.

I'd run a memtest

Can you try the card in another machine?

What power supply are you using?

I gave a shot of the card to my cousin and he reported no problems he is running AMD fx8350 with 16gb ram.

Currently running the beta drivers and still the same problem.

Will run a memtest soon and power supply is powercool extreme mod 650

Right updated BIOS to latest one from last month, installed windows 8.1 too see if that makes any difference. Computer will freeze when woken from sleep. I also restarted the computer and as soon as i double clicked Chrome icon the computer shut down. no BSOD or error just completely restarted.

Event viewer shows 2 Red errors

Code:
A fatal alert was generated and sent to the remote endpoint. This may result in termination of the connection. The TLS protocol defined fatal error code is 43. The Windows SChannel error state is 252.

And

Code:
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

Other than these i cant see any more problems.

So im having I think the same problem on Win 7 pro and Win 8.1 just shown different symptoms on 8.1. As said previously GPU was given to a friend and worked fine for him on Windows 7 Ultimate, MB, CPU and RAM are all brand new. The same symptoms happened on my previous computer Intel Q6600, 4gb ram and a generic intel MB but only tried windows 7 on it. It leaves the GPU i think but i wonder why it works fine for mate but not me

Always a fresh install partitions deleted then done again then formatted. Apart from my backup partition its only 20gb or so

The graphics card originally done this with my old PC Intel Q6600, 4GB Ram, Generic Intel Motherboard. I then gave it too my cousin who put it in his FX8350, 16GB Ram, Unknown make of Motherboard and it worked fine. I then took it back and its doing the same in this New pc i have built.

Managed to pick myself up a corsair gs800 for very little money, fitted and formatted and problems have disappeared. So looks like it was PSu all along

Ok so this issue still is NOT resolved. I have removed the only remaining culprit from the old system the 650ti. Replaced it with R9 270x. I have also had a shot of 8gb ram from my cousin and still received the BSOD so that rules out the RAM. Only 2 things i can now think are the Motherboard and CPU. Can anyone else shed any light on this. One thing to possibly note is that i think the motherboard automatically OC's the CPU and/or RAM as the tweaker in bios is set to Auto, if i set it too manual it will have settings inputted but i dont know if they are correct.
