I know this is probably better suited in the 'internet' section of the forums but I know a lot of gamers will also be interested in this story.

What are peoples thoughts on this? I'm currently a BE customer and my contract is up soon and I was actually considering switching to another provider anyway.

They can add BE and O2 to their woefully over subscribed and creaking ADSL BB service, simultaneously ruining everyone's connection

Shame really, I was with O2 for just over 3 years and Be for a year before that, they were superb. Seldom had any issues, and always managed to get a good deal with them.

I'm stuck with BT now anyway (no O2 LLU where I've moved to).

With O2 currently and it's been by far the best net connection I've had! Literally zero issues in the 2 years I've had it and always get the full 20meg speed (lucky enough to be able to see my local exchange from my window lol).

I really hope this deal doesn't cause issues with current customers of O2 and Be :(

I'd personally put sky uptop with regards to ISPs. Second to Virgin media.

So I cant see this being bad news. I've used quite a few providers too, When I was with Sky they never throttled me, and I always got close to full speeds, I cant say I was all that close to the exchange either.

I actually think certain things performed slightly better with Sky's DSL, compared to Virgin.

It is. O2 is easily one of the best ISP's, by far better than sky, virgin or anyone else you mention.

UK Call centres, £6 a month for unlimited, fantastic LLU Hardware and not oversubscribed. Ridiculous renewal benefits too, I just recieved 12 months of xbox live for doing so.

Sky is fine as an isp so long as you're with their LLU, but everything else they do is terrible. I know someone somewhere enjoys talking to pakistan when they have a problem, but i'm not one of them.

Safe to say when my bill stops saying O2 and starts saying Sky i'll cancel my service and give plusnet fibre a try.

Still on the Friends and Family Discount for BB :)
I hope There is No Change regarding this discount
And no Price Rises

Had sky broadband for a year or two when they first launched, first the free service then the paid for service. Never had a problem and in truth I only moved to O2 because of the silly cheap price I could get it for.

Had O2 broadband for 2 years but moved away from them just before christmas as the download speed i was getting had really tailed off. Neighbours and friends also with O2 broadband in my local area were also complaining about speed issues. Despite only paying something like £1.70 a month of O2 broadband as soon as my contract was up I was gone.

Move to BT and I'm now paying 7 quid a month for their Infinity 2 fibre broadband. Miles away from the exchange though so only get 13-16Mb download but its been rock solid so far touch wood.
