BSOD 100000d1 error help!

hi all I have a sony viao laptop I got from a friend to fix, however i cant seem to fix this problem.

Event log says this is the problem, but i cant seem to get it fixed, any advise help...

Error code 100000d1, parameter1 10f0e534, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 8230b817.

Have you tried running memtest? If not try running it as that sort of error points towards a possible RAM problem?

Have any drivers been updated or new hardware added?

Try looking here similar error to your's
it does suggest a driver error but there is also a possibilty like Valo suggests that it is simply a bad memory dimm running memtest would let you know if memory is at fault
