BSOD after new GPU

I have recently upgraded my GPU to a 3060ti FE.

I updated my BIOS as per the instructions on the gigabyte website, I then installed the new GPU. I used geforce experience to install the latest drivers.

I updated to BIOS version F51h, I updated them in order as the instructions said to. I did it with a USB in the BIOS.

I installed GPU driver Geforce Game Ready 526.47

I also updated various drivers for the motherboard from the same gigabyte website. I did AMD Chipset Driver [2.07.21.306] and AMD APU Driver [20.45.36.210209a] (I'm not sure if I should have done this but it seemed to make the BSOD whilst in windows stop.)

Now I have an issue where I get a BSOD on startup, it will restart itself and then normally load windows and run ok but it sometimes takes a few goes. I did have a random BSOD just browsing too but that seems to have stopped since updating drivers. It seems like once it has managed to load windows then it runs fine.

The stop code that happened this time was:
  • IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
My pc specs are:

Operating System
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
CPU
AMD Ryzen 7 2700X 36 °C
Pinnacle Ridge 12nm Technology
RAM
16.0GB Dual-Channel Unknown @ 1199MHz (16-16-16-39)
Motherboard
Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. AX370-Gaming K7 (AM4) 28 °C
Graphics

4095MB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti (NVIDIA) 35 °C

57GB SanDisk Ultra USB 3.0 USB Device (USB )
3GB USB DISK 2.0 USB Device (USB )

Does anyone have any tips or know what the issue could be? Its driving me mad.

Thanks a lot.

clean install your graphics driver.

check SMART information on your SSD

even better use DDU to uninstall your current driver
boot and see if you have errors. if not then install nvidia driver by downloading from nvidia site.

DDU needs to be run under safe mode with admin access

Is this a new build or an old one with just a recent GPU upgrade?

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL can be caused by a number of things but most commonly is GPU/GPU driver related. Clean install as mentioned after running DDU from Guru3D's website and go from there. Also in the BIOS is the GPU set up correctly, like checking ReSize BAR being off/on whatever it is at now?

APU driver? As part of the chipset package, or what?

This is the SMART information - https://ibb.co/0DxZS5t

I have now used DDU and uninstalled the driver, then installed the nvidia driver from the nvidia site.

This is an old build with a recent GPU upgrade.

I am not sure what to look for to know if the GPU is setup correctly in the BIOS, I had a look and couldnt find "ReSize BAR" anywhere.

EDIT - I can see that Resizable Bar is set to NO in the geforce control panel.

https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-AX370-Gaming-K7-rev-10/support#support-dl-driver-chipset On here its on the Chipset section at the top. I downloaded it and opened it but not sure if it did anything...

Thanks for all your advice so far - I now have had a different BSOD and it happened whilst browsing.

I think it said:
  • PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.
It restarted so quickly but i'm pretty sure that was the error.

One thing I did notice in the BIOS is that the BIOS version is back at F30 but I know that I updated to F51H... Would it be worth trying to update it again?

I think something else is at play. Everything indicate some kind of instability in your hardware and unlikely to be the GPU

Your NVMe drive is running hot as well which isn’t a good thing.

Check your event log and see what is going on in there.
