Hello,

I have had a few blue screens in the past month or 2 i finally got them to stop for about 2 weeks after in took out the new ram i had installed also updated all my gpu drivers. Now i have had this bsod and it the whocrashed it shows this.

On Fri 01/08/2014 00:11:50 GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\memory.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: atikmdag.sys (atikmdag+0xB12EC)
Bugcheck code: 0x3B (0xC0000005, 0xFFFFF8800F4EF2EC, 0xFFFFF8800A70B950, 0x0)
Error: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
file path: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\atikmdag.sys
product: ATI Radeon Family
company: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
description: ATI Radeon Kernel Mode Driver
Bug check description: This indicates that an exception happened while executing a routine that transitions from non-privileged code to privileged code.
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.
A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: atikmdag.sys (ATI Radeon Kernel Mode Driver, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.).
Google query: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION

This is different from the other as the never had a module it was unkown before.

Can anyone help me out with this one ?

Would really appreciate it

Thanks

Ryan

I believe all of the desktop i5 processors have intel graphics integrated. Your board has a vga and dvi out connection on it. Remove the amd vga card and connect your monitor to the vga or dvi port on the board. Remove the amd vga driver and install the intel vga driver and see what happens.

What psu do you have?

List your whole spec

I have

Msi gd65 z87 Gaming
Intel i5 4670k 3.40GHz
8gb corsair vengeance ram
Sapphire r8 280x toxic
antec 620 M
samsung 250gb ssd
1tb wd blue
corsair h100

I tested prime95 and it was fine.

Also i will if needed but would like to find another way or fixing other than taking out the gpu as i use this system everyday for gaming and this would affect my games.

I have done this yesterday and i have not had a blue screen since. So hopeful this has helped my problem.

atikmdag Stopped Responding – Step 1: Download and install the latest ati graphic driver.

atikmdag Stopped Responding – Step 2: Then go to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers and rename atikmdag.sys to atikmdag.sys.old.

atikmdag Stopped Responding – Step 3: Go to ati directory (usually in C:\ATI) and find the file atikmdag.sy_.

atikmdag Stopped Responding – Step 4: Copy the file to your Desktop directory.

atikmdag Stopped Responding – Step 5: Open cmd.exe by going to Start -> type cmd in the search box and hit enter.

atikmdag Stopped Responding – Step 6: Change the directory to Desktop by typing chdir Desktop.

atikmdag Stopped Responding – Step 7: Then, type EXPAND.EXE atikmdag.sy_ atikmdag.sys. Or,
expand -r atikmdag.sy_ atikmdag.sys

atikmdag Stopped Responding – Step 8: When the expansion is complete, copy the new atikmdag.sys from your Desktop to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers

atikmdag Stopped Responding – Step 9: Restart your computer and the problem should be resolved.

I suggest removing the amd card and running on the intel card for a while to rule out the cause of the blue screens being a (possible) faulty amd vga card. This is purely for testing - I dont expect you to try and play games on the integrated Intel vga.
