as the title says, ive been getting the old BSOD when i switch my GFs pc on,
i cant even get it to go into safe mode ? the furtherest it gets is to the welcome screen.
please help, as she's really doing my nut in about it ! rabbit rabbit rabbit etc ;)

its running on a 2800+ sempron on a MSI mb, 1 512ddr400, 80 gb sata, audigy 2, 300w cheapo psu & a fx5900xt gfx.

when i searched for the fault, various places say its either a driver conflict or bad memory.

the only driver she's loaded recently is a sony ericcson for a k750 mobile at xmas.

i tried 2 256 sticks of ddr266 without any luck, i even stripped everything out & just connected
the gfx & hdd, still with no luck.

any help would be appreciated thanks

it crashes when i try to start up in normal or safemode, it doesnt get that far to run memtest.

think my only option is to either get new memory or reload everything,
& if i have to reload from scratch, i'll have an uphappy bunny on my hands ;)

any ideas ?

Sorry to but in
I get that only now and then, when I tell the computer to shut down, and it only happens then. it can happen when i've bin gaming, web browsing or when my mum uses it and all she does is play Solitaire (not exactually challenging)
would run mem test but all ways i've tried don't work (havn't put floppy drive in comp, now regretting this option)

Download the memtest bootable cd-rom and you won't need a floppy drive.

Also, you don't need to get into windows - memtest is boot-only, so you have to run it off a bootable floppy or CD (above). Memtest doesn't depend on the operating system :p

Just ran 4 loops of memtest86 and no errors found, any ideas?
