recently built a computer, but since finished i have had nothing but problems.

ASUS Sabertooth X58 (Latest BIOS)
Intel 6 Core 980x @ Stock
24gb of Corsair Vengeance RAM (10 - 10 - 10 - 27, 1.6V)
XFX 5770 1GB
Corsair 750watt Modular PSU
2x OCZ Agility 3 in Raid 0 (Latest Firmware)
Asus Xonar

The computer was giving me regular BSOD's through general use and prime 95, later found out after doing memtest that the ram was causing the problems, increased timings and voltages and seem to be having no problems with the RAM at this moment in time. Prime 95 seems to be stable.

However, after installing windows odd behavior occurs. For example i will download a file which will start like normal, get a certain percentage through and then stop this is sometimes followed by an error like 'Could not download file XXX from XXX.

It will also reboot and give me the error message Boot device not accessible, after reebooting the machine again it seems to be fine.

However this was when i was running RAID 0 on the SATA 2 Ports. I have since changed to the 6gb SATA ports (SATA 3) and i am getting SLOWER speeds on HDTUNE as well as this problem of files stopping, currently doing a HDTUNE error test and nothing thus far. I really don't understand why it is SLWOER in the SATA 3 ports and i don't understand why on a fresh install on windows downloads seem to stop before finishing and crash?

I have upgraded the firmware on the BIOS and the Hard drives and still this occurs. However, it does seem to be fine when windows is installed on the 2TB backup drive)

So 2 questions really? what is causing these hard drives to freeze and why is the SATA 3 slower than the SATA 2?

Help is much appreciated. Cheers all :)

Well the ram seems to be stable, mem test is stable at 1.6v. Would the DIMM Slots be affecting the stability of the hard drives? yeah i am worried that i am going to have to send one of these hdd's back :\ last resort though

The build isn't for me, its for my uncles music studio. Basically he needs a nippy future proof PC. I did warn him off 24gigs of ram as it is unessasary but he wanted it as money was no object for him. I don't want or need to overclock it, just has to be stable a 6 core pc at 3.3ghz is plenty. Yeah the m4 might be an option if i can a refund for these

At the moment im using the pc and it seems to be a lot more stable with these new raid drivers, just really annoying that the hard drives are benching 200mb a second less under HDTUNE with this marvel controller. What should the stripe size be for the these hard drives, they were 128kb under the old controller but in haste i think they are on 64kb atm. Could this affect speed?

to get this SSD in the SATA 3 port i had to use a cheaper SATA cable to connect it since the stupid cables that came with the mobo were L shaped and couldn't fit into the 2 sata3 connectors. The sata cablae couldn't make a difference in speed could it? surely just latency, and such a tiny amount of latency its not worth noting?

thats cool, your transfer rates do seem really slow though... are you using marvell controllers as well? my speeds are 550mb on SATA2 and 300mb on SATA3.. should be getting up to 1000mb though :\
