Hi Guys,

I have just installed a new cpu and when I try to start windows 7 I keep getting a BSOD, I think it is error 24 however the screen dissapears in less than a second.

Could this be the new CPU or is it something else?

All settings in BIOS have been reset to default, The one time it went into Windows all the icons near the clock were moving along the task bar:confused::confused::confused:

Has anyone come accross this before and if so what was the problem?

my system is as follows:

New CPU - Phenom II x4 840T
Old CPU - Phenom II x2 550 BE
ASUS M4A79XTD-EVO
8Gb DDR3 - 1333 OCZ Gold
Samsung 640Gb HDD
NVidia 8800GTS
Cooling by H50

Suggestions welcome

Cheers:confused:

No MB is currently supporting this chip as it has never been officially released by AMD. I was aking if anyone had come accross BSOD with error 24

Ihave just tried to install W7 on spare HDD and it still BSOD. I think the processor may be faulty!! As Old CPU works fine!!!!!

I emailed ASUS and they assure me that this motherboard does support the 840T and the reason it is not listed is because it was never officially released to the Public.
