BSOD error 41 problems

I have a acer 5750g laptop which has a weird problem

when using it. the laptop is fine. works perfect and plays games fine.

however when leaving it unused for a while (on) it will bsod after a while (maybe an hour) and restart.

the event error is 41. However this is a general error that can be caused by a lot of things but one common example is power failure.

now if it happened all the time then it would clearly be a huge problem however its only when i leave it (for example when downloading a file i often leave over night and now i cannot do this as when i come back to it the laptop has rebooted and is sitting at the logon screen)

seems a bit weird to me.

any thoughts?

ps. i have clean re-installed windows 8 today and it still happens so its not a windows **** up

Could it be overheating?

hmm. its possible as have never been in the room when it does it so have not felt it.

but its very unlikely. The laptop is on a laptop cooler, I took it apart and cleaned dust out about a week ago and it also never really gets that hot when playing far cry 3 so doubt just downloading gets it that hot.

any other ideas?

I'm not much help, but can suggest you try memtest 86+ and find the diagnostics for your hdd, maybe worth a try?
