BSOD Half Life 1

hey all,

A friend of mine has a 6950 1GB, Phenom 955 4GB PC12800 ram, not sure which mobo currently and I think a corsair CX 500w? but I've ruled out the PSu as he can play modern titles easy peasy.

He can play BF3(beta), BC2 etc fine but he cannot play Half Life 1 based games like cs 1.6 or in his case TeamFortressClassic. It will play for anywhere between 5-10mins and give him a BSOD. He's tried several drivers and even did a clean install yesterday and it still crashed his pc.

Any ideas anyone?

He did a clean install of Windows 7 mate. I'm really quite stumped by this...

Force Vsync and see if that fixes it. If it does it means something is unstable.

The game stresses the components in a different way as the fps shoots up into the thousands.

interesting idea - i kinda hope that doesnt fix it though cos playing with vsync on is just plain wrong.
