I have been getting the odd BSOD on my pc. It started a while ago and always seemed to happen in firefox. Last night it happened when playing a game.

The game froze once and then carried on, then a bit late it froze and I had BSOD.

I have recently changed my gcard but the BSOD's happened with the old card too.

I have run a win 7 memory diag and it reported "Hardware errors". Does that mean it's the RAM or can the diag test report other errors too?

Should I run the rest again with a stick out to see if I can pinpoint the stick that is at fault?

Or could it be something else?

When you changed the card did you clean off the old drivers using Driver sweeper?

It wouldn't hurt to try one stick of RAM at a time in different banks. Alternatively, try memtest86+

It might also be worth testing your PSU... Just to eliminate that, given the fact you had the problem on both cards.

How to check your PSU is working

Thanks for the reply.

I'll try memtest86 tonight.

The CPU is an 800w version and I have a 5870, an x-fi card, an ssd and 2 hard drives connected as well as the obvious bits.

I do have an Overclock on the cpu which is an i7-920 but it's only at 3g at the moment. The ram is set to as near to 1600 as I can get with a voltage of 1.65 which is the rated voltage.
