BSOD help needed

HI all,

Got a Overclockers Titan Goliath i7 920 o/c to 3.4ghz. INstalled my g card, a 4870 x2. All running fine for a while, but now crashing with BSOD on atikmdag. It occurs at any time in games.

I have checked the heat of the card and all is fine (running at 45-60deg under load).

When the crash occurs, the PC refuses to restart for about 1/2 hour. It willg et to the windows loading screen and jsut before the login prompt it BSOD again.

I have tried updating all drivers, unloading CCC, but all to no avail. I have also tried clocking the system back to stock 2.67ghz through the BIOS. This ran stable for a while, but then crashed again.

I am at my whits end. I think it may be a graphics card hardware fault, but am not sure.

Any help you can give me before I return the G card, or phone overclockers support woul dbe ver4y gratefully received.

Thanks, I did that and the results are quite varied. The 3 best options are:
1. update drivers (done that)
2. oerheating (not an issue)
3. bad hardware

But quite a few posts suggest it could be a power issue. I thought putting the PC back to stock clock would resolve that, but it hasn't.

I have checked on the ATI website and they say that the Corsair TX650 is okay for this card.

Running out of ideas.

The worry I have with returing the card is that it does work sometimes, so can it really be a hardware fault? The PC does not crash when running windows and browsing the internet....only when I run games. Sometiems the games run for 1hr +, other times, for a few seconds.

I did try the card the PC shipped with and had no issues there, but it was a lot lesser card. So I was wondering if power consumption, or PSu could be the issue?

Thanks for the input, really helping.

The CPU is reporting low temps (40 at idle and 50 at load) so not an issue there. The rig doesn't feel hot at all and the GPu is reporting anything from 45-60 at load. I have even run the GPU fan at full power, but it make sno difference.

Hi,

Thanks Aproctor for all your suggestions. I tried all of them and the BSOD was still happening. SO I returned the GPU (still in warranty) and have a new one in. No crashes so far at all. So must have been the GPU with a hardware fault.

Thanks again for all your help. I was able to go into the retailer with th GPU and give a whole list of stuff I had tried...even got a raised eye brow for how much I had tried :-)

No issues swapping after that!!

Just a final note to say "You Rock" to Overclockers. The rig is awesome and totally dominates all my games :-0
