Hi

I sometimes get a bsod just before i reach the desktop in xp i look in the event viewer and cant find any errors that suggest why it bsod please help, the bsod is not displayed long enough on the screen to take note of the problem before it reboots any pointers?

How long has the OS been installed? Is it a nice and clean OS or is it filled with Junk? Sounds like it's been caused by a memory dump due to XP erroring, rather an a hardware error.

Have you previously overclocked or changed any BIOS settings? If you have done it could also have become unstable.

untick the automatically restart option in the startup and recovery options that will allow you to get the BSOD error code so its easier to diagnose.

A few months old since last format,No havnt touched any bios settings at all.

Navigate to the Control Panel in Windows XP by left-clicking on Start, followed by Settings and then choosing Control Panel.

In the Control Panel window, open System.

Note: In Microsoft Windows XP, depending on how your operating system is setup, you may not see the System icon. To correct this, click on the link on the left-hand side of the Control Panel window that says Switch to Classic View.

In the System Properties window, click on the Advanced tab.

Locate the Startup and Recovery area and click on the Settings button.

In the Startup and Recovery window, locate and uncheck the check box next to Automatically restart.

Click OK in the Startup and Recovery window.

Click OK in the System Properties window.

From now on, when a problem causes a BSOD or another major error that halts the system, the PC will not automatically reboot. Rebooting manually will be necessary.

try this, if you can disable the automatic restart and then post the error code.
