I get the BSOD when I turn off my PC but it seems to only happen if I have put my PC to sleep earlier during the day.

No problems reactivating PC after sleep, all works well until I turn off later that night.

Have noticed however that when it turns off okay the screen gives a couple of flickers before shutting down, hadn't noticed that before.

I am running Vista 32bit Home Premium on an Overclockers machine with Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 240GHz with 4Mb memory.

have you tried opening your case and re slotting the memory? that worked for my friend who has a similar problem once

Not sure if that will do the trick as it is okay if I haven't hibernated my pc only seem to get problem if I hibernated sometime during the day then get BSOD when turning off later at night.

Will give it a try anyway, thanks roop.

My, my what a interesting results words "Vista", "bsod" and "hibernation" give in google... well, at least you're not getting BSOD straight from wake up attempt.

Have you checked that all drivers are latest ones?

Yes, have checked for driver updates, all seem okay and it is overclocked from 2.4GHz to 3.4GHz, it has been for the last year or more with no problems.

No I haven't tried that, not sure how you select the default clock settings, can't understand why it should change now when it's been okay until a few days ago.
