Hi guys

I have 4 sticks of 5300 and lately I have been getting bsod when I go to start some games and other times, RAM volts is 2.2, timings 5-5-5-15 running at 700mzh. I get the message below after restart, took 2 sticks out and no more blue screen, however I testing each stick with a boot to memtest86+ the other week and it all passed?

Shall I rma?

If it's passing Memtest at 667mhz 3-3-3-10 and 2.2v then it might be hard to get it RMA'd.

And tbh that's the only settings that should be tested if you think it's faulty.

Well the timings I run it at are 5-5-5-15?

I have now overclcoked the 2 sticks to 888mhz and its running fine which leads me to believe there is an issue?

Not sure what to do now :(

Suppose I could sell all 4 sticks and get the OZC 2gb x2 instead?

They should do 4-4-4-12 at 888mhz, and 3-3-3-10 at your original 700mhz, at 2.2v.

But the DS3R shouldn't have any compatibility issues with the Ballistix.

It's possible that there a driver issue with something in Vista. Have you installed the 4gb hotfix from here?

Should I still be able to do 4-4-4-12 @ 888 with the whole 4gb installed?

Says the update does not apply to my system? However I only have 2gb install atm?

It's designed to install with only 2gb in. But you may already have it.

And yeah 4-4-4-12 888mhz should be do-able with 4 sticks. You may need 2.25v.

And also give the MCH voltage a boost by 0.1v when running 4 sticks.

I'm not a fan of putting 2.3v through the PC5300 Ballistix full-time, but try it and see if you still have the same problems.

Well it's on 2.3 with all 4 sticks at 888mhz 5-5-5-15 so I'll see how things go and report back here if it blue screens on me anymore this weekend :)

Cheers mate ;)

Need summit to stress the ram out really and be sure!

As I had 4 sticks is it very important to have the same paired sticks in appropriate slots? As both my pairs are different batches?

If I got them mixed up would that cause me issues?

If they pass memtest i suspect something else is causing the bsods i started getting bsods recently i reformatted 2 days ago havent had a single bsod.

Oh dear :(

Well I just got one on one set so I have put the other set in now, so far so good!

But if it's a fresh install in the week so be it..
