Ive just finished putting together a 2nd build, with parts bought from MM, specs are:

DFI NF4 Lanparty SLi
Opty 146
2 x Samsng TCCD
X850XT
Generic PSU I've had for aaages
80GB Samsung IDE

It POSTs ok, but then just BSOD on normal boot, safe mode boot, as well as 'most recent working settings' thing.

I have took out RAM sticks etc, same thing.

I tried putting in the Windows XP CD to try to check the drive for errors, but while its booting from the CD, same thing.

I swapped the HD for a WD 320GB SATA, and tried to do a fresh install of Windows, still same thing.

Could it be the PSU? Its pretty ancient, and im using a 20 pin > 24 pin adapter, but it powered the previous Socket A system fine.

The BSOD message has '0x0000007B' and the second parameter is '0xc0000034' which according to google it means

'4. 0xc0000034 - This status code translates to STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND. This is the most common status code and is usually caused by a missing or corrupt driver.'

But i cant even boot to windows or do a fresh install.

Maybe the motherboard?

Thanks

are you pressing F6 and specifying additional drivers ?

I had this this a few boards....XP thinks it has the correct driver but would then blue screen because its not. Loading the driver from a floppy fixed it for me

Thanks for the reply.

Im not pressing F6 or anything...and I never needed in the past..

I dont have a floppy drive on any pcs, havent for a few years now

And I have no idea what drivers exactly would be needed to install anyway :/

Not being able to boot into safe mode is not a good sign. Your PSU does not "sound" too healthy, but it would be hard to say unless you swapped it. A PSU to run that set-up should be quite cheap. it might be worth swapping it out, but I feel you may need to reinstall Windows.
