BSOD, temp related?

Hey guys,

I bought a OCUK bundle of the 4GHz CoreI7, X58Gigabyte UD-5 and took delivery 1 day ago. Since having built a Windows 7 system for this set-up I have found that after 4/5 minutes of running Prime95, I get BSOD. The system has BSOD twice now. The first time one core hit 90C and the 2nd time one core hit 94C. I'm conscious that this is quite a high temp and i dont want to complete destroy my components but I have the CPU fan fitted well with AS compound. I have remounted once already as temps were what I would consider to be on the high side. The fans on the sides of the Titan HS are 3-pin, therefore I cannot seem to control the amount their RPM, especially in respect of the intake fan. It's stuck @ 1300RPM constant, no matter what settings I adjust in BIOS. It's a Noctua 120mm fan on each side but both only have a 3 pin header rather than the mobo standard 4-pin header.

I have previously had water-cooled set-ups and have quite a good degree of o/c experience, I've just really hit a wall with this one and would appreciate any advice available.

Admittedly, my case is a 98 Chieftec Dragon and could undoubtedly be improved, but it has worked with all previous installations I have done.

My set-up includes an 850Watt DarkPower 'BeQuiet' PSU, 250GB WD DVD+/-RW, PS/2 keyboard and mouse, 4890 gfx.

I wonder if its the CPU fan not running at capacity thats causing the BSOD, what do you guys think? After being out of the o/c scene for a couple of years, I'm not sure if I'm being over precaucious on the temps etc and that it's maybe a windows7 issue. Any suggestions folks? I'm running idle @ up to 53C by the way.

Thanks in advance.

the titan fan should have a 4 pin connector , have you fitted the inline adaptor to the wiring harness ? if so remove it as it is a resistor so lowering the speed of the fan .

Mine works fine connected to the cpu-fan socket on motherboard and spins up to 2000rpm under load
is yours the titan fenrir cooler ?

hope this helps
