I have an overclocked computer hand-made and tonight the hard drive light was flashing and every time it flashed the mouse could move and every time it didn't flash the mouse froze...and then the screen went funny and I then got a bsod...

Any help on what it could be?

It now works ok after a reboot. System info. is q6600 o/c to 3.2 ghz. ip35 pro mobo. 4 gig mem. Corsair tx750 psu. hd3870 g card.

What was the message on the BSOD? It may be driver problems so try opening up device manager, and reinstalling your mouse drivers.

If this doesn't fix it, and it BSODs again, make a note of the error message it displays and let us know.

+1

Probably trying to read a block several times, eventually gave up and caused a crash (maybe it was vmem).

The block was marked bad, you rebooted, it's fine now.

Well thanks for all your help.

I hope it's what you say and it would make sense.

I have had the issue in the past but no BSOD/crash - the hard drive flashing on and off quickly and at the same time the computer is freezing as the light comes on. It's happened about 5 times over the last year since I made it. I was thinking all this time that's it's a driver issue/conflict or a mobo issue and before I saw these posts I made sure I went onto jmicron and installed the latest SATA drivers.

Like I said thank you for your help and I do hope it's what you're saying. It makes sense.

:)
