BSOD when using PrecisionX or Afterburner

As the title says - I've hardly used my new build since fitting water cooled 780's in SLI in replacement of my 7950's. With neither PrecisionX or Afterburner installed I have 100% system stability - zero problems at all. As soon as I install either of those two programs I end up with blue screen stating Driver_IRQL_Equal_OR_LESS_THAN (or words to that effect.)

Have tried various drivers as well to no avail.

And I know they are fast enough at stock - that's not the point :p

Any ideas why my new build hates me? Also occasionally when I turn it on it will start to boot and then go off and restart - always boots the second time and doesn't happen more than say 1 in 5 times. Someone said this could be PSU related - Could that be linked to the BSOD?

Any help appreciated.

I had a similar problem on my last build which turned out to be an unstable cpu overclock. Drop your cpu to stock and see if it still happens?
