Recently begun getting random BSOD's in Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. My computer was built in anticipation of getting W7 and so it originally had the RC installed and I've had the final version installed since it came out. Only recently have started having BSOD's (around christmas time). The only new hardware I've installed is my Dell 2209WA monitor. I installed the driver for this through windows update. I also had my Razer DeathAdder mouse replaced with the newer 3500dpi model.

That's all I can think of.

I've had about 4 since christmas; one whilst loading Dragon Age, one whilst watching an avi file in VLC and another when I returned to the computer after the monitor had gone into power save mode.

I've used BlueScreenView on the last BSOD and it highlights ntoskrnl.exe in red.

What does this mean? I tried googling it but most answers have been quite quite vague.

I am at uni atm and will be unable to do a 'repair' using the windows disk untill I reuturn home in a couple of weeks.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Can't help much sorry, the only instance of BSOD I ever had in vista or 7 was caused by my graphics card not receiving enough power, which caused the nvidia driver to crash. This definitely does not sound like that, but may be power related too.

Thanks anyway. Built the machine at the end of August and I had several people look at the specs to make sure everything was ok. I suppose it could just be a dodgy power supply.

I've also updated the drivers for the card recently, but it still blue screened.

Doing a scandisk atm (on my laptop currently), and I'll be doing a defrag as well. I've also been recommended to run a registry cleaner. I'll probably just use the CCleaner for that. Later on i'll be using the MS memory tester thing to make sure it isnt the memory.
