BSOD with new GPU (7870)

Cool. Running OCCT now and keeping an eye on CPU-Z voltage which is fluctuating between 1.248 and 1.264 (at the moment). Will leave it running for a while.

Core speed (presumably because of turbo boost is showing as 3.779.93Mhz)

Does it downclock at idle? Should use 1v or less

Can try 181 bclk to get true 3.8ghz

If unstable just add one/two clicks more dvid and retest

At idle, core speed is jumping from 2160Mhz to 3779 and voltage is also jumping between 1.056 and 1.248. The only power saving left off in Bios is C1E.

Looking again at core speed its mostly running at 3779.

You can try with c1e on,but you might get a squealing noise, and try 181 or 182 bclk for 3.8ghz

1v at idle is roughly right tho

Great, many thanks. Might leave c1e off for now and see how it goes. Will try for 3.8 but it's so close now that should be fine all going well and as u say I can add a little more dvid if necessary.

just try two clicks more dvid and retest and so on till its stable

idk where your at with qpi/vtt but anything below 1.4v is fine

Just need to fine tune it now,you were using 1.3v CPU before so you might need more dvid or you might need more qpi/vtt,its either or both of those as to why its crashing,an odd CPU multi might help, some chips behave better with an odd or even CPU multi

But try voltages first

Seems better now, far cry for about an hour and no problems. Really appreciate u taking the time to help out!!

Interesting, I decided it was time to clean out the dust from the case and noticed the CPU heatsink had a wall of dust to one side (it has a fan on either side). I gave it a spring clean and so far it looks to have reduced the temp from a previous max of 71 to a max of 62.

need to stress it for longer but wouldn't expect such a large drop in temp, even if it was a thick wall of dust!
