Hi all,
I have 4x 16GB Corsair Dominator RAM (CMT32GX5M2B5600C36) that I'm having stability issues with. I originally had 2x 16GB modules running XMP profile 1on an ASUS Strix Z960-F. After installing the other modules using XMP1 I had some instability and 'You're computer ran into a problem' 3 times in the first day...
Symptoms started like so:
1) Initial install of RAM... super long post time. Windows 11 boots and complains (before logging in) that there was an issue with my pin and I'd need to recover it. Weird
2) Rebooted and got an almost instant 'you're computer ran into problems'
3) Disable XMP in BIOS. Login to Windows Fine.
4) Reboot and re-enable XMP. Systems works fine (barring having to re-install Corsair iCue) and I do plenty of gaming.
5) Feeling happy I do some browsing in Windows. Another 'you're computer ran into problems'.
6) I run memtest 86 for 4 runs (~2hrs) no issues.
7) Run a blend test in prime 95. Fails after about 5-6 minutes - whilst also the CPU went to 100C (wtf - Corsair H100i)
8 ) Removed RAM and all seems well but reluctant to run P95 again due to heat!
Rang the hardware supplier today... tech support reckon its XMP Profile and that if populating 4x channels I likely need to back the timings down. The Intel website for my i13700k cpu has a little questions mark next to memory types stating 'Intel® processors come in four different types: Single Channel, Dual Channel, Triple Channel, and Flex Mode. Maximum supported memory speed may be lower when populating multiple DIMMs per channel on products that support multiple memory channels.'
All RAM is the same make, model and spec.
Does this seem like legit advice and is this is a known thing? It's been a while!
Failing that I can test each module individually on a loop.
Cheers and apols for lengthy description.
