Ok i have started to get BSODs on my computer. Not good. It has been fine for months, and i havnt added any new hardware devices or anything recently. Ive also tried reinstalling windows, yet this problem has suddenly sprung up and won't go away. here is what the BSOD says:

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x00000000, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0xF43DE7FF)
it mentions this file: vsdatant.sys - address F43DE7FF, base at F43B9000.

I assume it has something to do with a hardware driver which is causing conflicts, but like i said, i havn't changed anything like that recently.

If anyone has any advice, or can point me in the direction of some, it would be much appreciated

ive never heard that one before but ill try. Come to think of it, i did move my ram from slot 3 to slot 1 a few weeks back. I cant think why that would have caused it, but its worth a shot!
cheers

vsdatant.sys is part of ZoneAlarm Firewall (Core-) Protection Service, if you have uninstalled z.a then you can remove this file form system32 folder.

this looks like whats giving you a bsod.

aha that sounds like it could be whats wrong. I will try completely removing and reinstalling ZA,which will hopefully solve the problem. However, i still cant think why it should suddenly start playing up.
Cheers

its a driver coflict or issue has nothing to do with the ram. I got it with xp all the time due to my graphics card. Don't remember how I fixed it though.

Yeah I didn't think reseating ram would work, but as i said, it seems to solve a lot of random problems.

Does this BSOD happen randomly or when you are doing something specific?

IRQ BSOD's are often due to two devices arguing over an IRQ or trying to use the same one.

Zonealarm causing BSOD's is not unheard of though...

it happens randomly. But thats now the least of my worries. A new problem has sprung up which involves my hard disk dieing! serious lossage. Its completely dead, so ill be gettin a new hdd :( Thanks for all your help guys but it seems like im out of the pan and into the fire!
