Hi there,

Over the past week or so I have been getting random BSOD's. They only happen when browsing the web.

Playing games, the computer is fine. No high temps.

These are the codes Windows 7 x64 is reporting when it has booted back up.

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000003b (0x00000000c0000005, 0xfffff96000107be2, 0xfffff8800276cd00, 0x0000000000000000).

I have tested the memory using memcheck, it was all fine.

The processor is at stock speeds. The graphics card is at stock speeds.

This morning the PC did something strange though. It BSOD and then would not restart or POST. I left it for a minute, then it would boot up, but the BIOS had reset itself, which I thought was quite strange...

Any ideas from the codes listed above? If not, I'll re-format over the weekend.

Computer Spec

Amd Phenom 955
Asus M4A89GTD-PRO
XFX Ati Radeon 6950
4GB Patriot 1333Mhz
OCZ 600W

Thanks

Only suggestion I found via Google was to update your graphics card drivers. Could also be bad RAM - try only using one at a time or using the other 2 sockets.

Hmmmm, I'm on 10.11 at the moment. I will reformat on Saturday and leave a stick in at a time to test with and also update to the 11.1 drivers and see how it goes...

Thanks for your time to reply Dragon, much appreciated.

Snap I have USB3 version of this board its picky on memory and symptons you've had is same as mine. How I did was to reseat memory and cmos reset and its not BSOD since

Test your ram with memtest if there is no errors, manually set your dram voltage and latency. If that doesn't work cmos reset and do voltage and latency manually.

Could try updating bios if all else fails

I'll try all of the above and update the BIOS. There was one released in December, so quite recent.

I reformatted on Saturday and within 4 hours of the PC being on, the blue screened again.

Now when I looked at the mem test function (LED) on the motherboard, it was a solid red which according to the manual, means there is a memory issue.

I then took out the second stick located in B1 and left the first stick in A1. I then ran MEMtest86 overnight for a good 8 hours with just that one stick in and it passed with no errors.

Tonight I shall try the second stick in DIMM B1 and see how it goes, but from the looks of things, it looks like either the second stick of ram is faulty, or DIMM B1 is faulty.

Well it has just BSOD again with just the one stick in, so now I am at a loss...

The memory is Patriot G Series DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Dual Channel (PGS34G1333ELK)

You could test second ram stick in A1 and run memtest, which Patriot memory have you got?

Savvy, could you do me a favour? Could you tell me what your CPU/NB offset volatge is in the BIOS? This is presuming your CPU isn't OC'd? If you could, that'd be great.

Just got some XMS3 to test out too...

Hi gumpy, didn't know how I missed this thread. Not at my pc. I can tell you am still at stock speed and vcore has being set to auto and dram voltage is 1.5v manually with pair of Kingston 1333 memory.

Which xms3 have you got 1333 or 1600?

I'll be most interested when you got your system stable am still wondering whether I've fixed my issue after cmos reset

Still BSOD with XMS3 in, so it has to be something else. Next to try is the graphics card... I have a 5850 lying around upstairs.

The XMS3 is 1333. Before I try the graphics card, I will try a CMOS reset, see if that helps.

I'll report back when I've tried that.

I'll update when I have done so. Gonna take out the 6950 clean the PCI socket and put back before the 5850 goes back in.

This board is a headache, are you getting different blue screens each time? like the ones in my thread

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18226077

What voltage and timings have you got the xms3 in the bios?, Ocuk has them at 8-8-8-24 and 1.5~1.6v, manual has this type of ram at 9-9-9-24 and 1.7v:confused:

doubt this could be your gpu

This specific XMS3 is rated at 9-9-9-24-34 @ 1.5v according to Corsair's website and CPU-Z. I have set all of those manually in the BIOS.

The specific XMS3 code is TW3X4G1333C9A.

Setting them to Auto or Manual makes no difference.

I would try cmos reset, leave things on auto if its stable after doing that. Might be overwriting its own settings or your own in bios

Another thing I remembered, does dram led stay on after crash and fails to boot? you have to shut down system by power button and wait 10secs

It has only done the DRAM failure twice. Pressing holding the DRAM button next to the red LED makes the system boot.

I'll try a CMOS reset tomorrow and report back on how I get on.

Tried a CMOS reset and it didn't make a blind bit of difference.

I have just changed the HDD from the previous SSD. I'll let this one run and see if it BSOD....

If it does, then it's time to take out the 6950 and use the onboard graphics or the 5850.

If it then still does it, it's either the CPU, Mobo or the PSU.
