This is a bit of a long one so I apologise in advance.

I'm currently using a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Pi 2512 laptop, and for quite a while now my system will crash and either come up with this BSOD or just completely freeze, resulting in me having to reboot my system.

Its got a Intel Pentium Dual Core T2370 @ 1.73 GHz, an Intel GMA 3100 which is an integrated graphic chip on a Mobile Intel 965 chipset, 2GB of RAM and a Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller.

The reason I listed the network card, is that this only seems to happen when I'm plugged into a LAN. If I only use my wireless, it's fine.

I bought this laptop to take to uni (like 3 years ago lol) because I was traveling between uni and home a lot so a laptop was ideal, but now that I'm finishing uni soon I'm building a desktop, but I'd still like to clear this issue up if I could.

It first happened like 2 and half years ago when I was living in halls at uni (could only connect through a LAN) and I spoke to fujitsu-siemens customer service but they had no idea and was no help at all. I looked online at the time but couldn't find anything.

Its never gone away but it doesn't happen as much now as I have a wireless router at uni and at home but to get online on my xbox 360 I need to plug it into my laptop and share my laptops wifi (doesn't give me the fastest connection but does the job lol) So as you can imagine, when I'm halfway through a FIFA match or when I've got 3/1 kill death ratio on COD (which rarely happens and is pretty good for me :p lol) then it gets very annoying when my laptop freezes and I get kicked offline losing all my stats :(

Anyone got any idea?

P.S If you can't see the picture for whatever reason the error message on the BSOD goes:

*** Hardware Malfunction
Call your hardware vendor for support
NMI: Parity Check / Memory Parity Error
*** The system has halted ***

I would run memtest on that laptop, that error looks like bad memory to me or even a paging file that has gone bad on a drive. So really 2 things to try

1 clear the paging file by disabling it restarting and then delete the page file manually (pagefile.sys), then scandisk the drive and defrag, then re-enable the page file.

2 run memtest on it and see what crops up .. Also if you can acess the memory, remove them and stick them back in make sure they click as they are installed (they may have just come loose over time).

Also you seem to state it does it more when it's on the LAN (ethernet), I would check if there is an update driver for the LAN card, if there is not one try disabling sleep mode on the lan card and any power saving features to see if it stops that too.

Give the laptop fans a good clean too with some compressed air, make sure to have the battery out of the laptop before you do this and leave it 10-15mins before butting the battery back in, it could be overheating too from built up dirt on the fans and heatsinks.

Checking google shows many people having this problem and seems to be more on laptops then desktops, also update your video card drivers (someone cured it with an update to their video drivers too).

OK I did your two steps, and the memtest came out with no errors, looks like everything's working on the memory side of things.

I updated the drivers for the LAN card, but the drivers for the video cad were already up to date.

I don't have any compressed air on me but I'll get hold of some and clean the fans.

The only thing is, is that I have no way to tell if it's been fixed because it happens randomly, but hopefully it won't happen again now!

Thanks for the help.
