My mate got sent a computer that isn't working by his uncle and it's really old. His uncle sent it him to see if he couldnt fix it just for fun. So far he has asked me for help and got all the cables plugged in and it can boot in to the bios just fine but I believe that the window install is corrupted. When i try to boot it up it comes up with the safe mode stuff and then when I press boot windows normally I believe I can see a bsod for the briefest of moments (like 0.1 seconds long) and then the computer just resets.
Ps.
It's using windows xp.

Does he need to save the data on it? If not, just try re-formatting and re-installing Windows. If that doesn't work then faulty RAM would the next guess.

So how exactly would I be able to format it with out format disks or is there a way to do it on the bios.

You format the disk during the Windows installation process.

You do have a Windows installation disk and a licence key?

I've tried some stuff and now it says something about ntldr.

Usually means the boot loader is missing, theres a process to replace i cant remember it off hand, you should find it with some googling.
Arent you going to be reformatting the PC anyway?
