BSOD

The dreaded BSOD is happening several times a day on my system and each time it is something different. I have two hard drives in my system both with their own OS and get this happening on both. What could be happening as I suspect a hardware issue and when look in the error reporting I commonly see something about Minixxxxxx.dmp

Does this mean anything?

Download and run mem test, you might have a faulty memory module.

Thanks for that but which do i click on as there are many to choose from and i don't know which one to select.

Have a look in your c:\windows\minidump folder. Attach a couple of the dumps here. They can be analysed then to see what the problem is.

Not sure how to attach here, do i just copy and paste straight from the Minidump folder??

Think you'd have to host them somewhere like dropbox and link to them.

You can use this util to read the minidumps. If you can screenshot a few of the blue screens from within the software, it will tell us a bit more.

Heres the link for memtester that RJC mentioned ... http://www.memtest.org/download/4.20/memtest86+-4.20.iso.zip

Extract it and double click on the extracted file. Should let you burn it to a CD if you have disc writing software installed. Then reboot and boot from it and let it run the tests.

Running the test right now it's at 46% so far and no errors

Test completed with no errors so it looks like the memory is not causing the fault then.

The minidumps are the way to go then. Try that software and post the blue screens.

That pic doesnt help unfortunately. Do you have any online file storage where you could put the minidumps? If not, could you do a trust for me and I'll send you my email address and you can email them over to me.

+1 for Bluescreenview. Although it doesn't always make clear what the problem is.

I would check the cpu if possible too... I've had bsod's similar to these when the memory controller on my cpu died

The BSOD messages that appear are.....

PAGE-FAULT-IN-NONE-PAGED-AREA

SYSTEM-SERVICE-EXCEPTION

IRQL-NOT-LESS-OR-EQUAL

The first and third are usually driver-related.
