So I have just built a new PC. Transferred the HD ( Windows & Home ) into the new system and booted.

Bios fires OK and Windows starts, but then I get a bluescreen . Then windows says it did not start properly.

I put the HD back into old PC and it is OK.

I don't have a suitable spare HD, if so I would put Windows on it as a clean install.

What should I do next ?

what mb is the new board?

pop in bios and look for sata/boot options and set sata ports from ahci to ide mode, then boot into windows

yh you'll need to set sata ports from ahci mode to ide mode then it should let you boot into windows then you can run this reg tweak from within windows and reboot into bios set sata ports back to ahci mode and it wont bsod then

your old windows/install wont have the needed ahci drivers hence its bsod'ing and newer modern board default to ahci mode for the sata ports now

Changed BIOS to ide mode and now windoze boots.

I will do the tweak later when I have finished installing drivers etc.

Thank you
