BSOD!

Had bsod last night... 2 messages
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED and
Critical process died.

Not at the same time but one would be one time and another be the other message. Can't boot into safe mode either. Both appeared last night.
Pc was acting up prior to last night. Cmd wouldn't open, nor would WhatsApp or msi afterburner. Changed my case to a nr200p and then these bsod started appearing. I went to clone my ssd to my a nvme drive. But even when the nvme has been removed.. The issue remains

What was the name in brackets (if you remember) after the KMODE error? If you remember it. Can you boot at all? Try to get into Device Manager and locate the aformentioned name in brackets.

I'll have another look but iirc there wasn't a name in brackets...

If there's no name:

Type ‘powercfg.cpl’ into the Windows Search box and select the Control Panel Item.
Select Choose what the power buttons do on the left.
Select Change settings that are currently unavailable in the center.
Uncheck the box next to ‘Turn on fast start-up’ and hit Save.

I can't get it to boot up at the moment but there's definitely no name on it :mad:

Any way to reinstall Windows with as a last resort?

I can do yeh. But I'd lose my bookmarks I think. If they're on my old ssd, can I somehow access them if I install Windows onto another ssd?

AFAIk you can drag and drop them. I'll see if there's more fixes because reinstalling Windows IS a last resort.

Many thanks. I'm in the process of installing it onto a new ssd anyway just to see if it sorts it. But I still have my original drive to go back to

You may have a short. Take everything out of the case and see if it works. Use the motherboard box as a stand - DO NOT use the the antistatic bag.

Just managed to find the chrome bookmarks file, now I've found the passwords and login data file for old websites. Pc so far OK.

I've got it running perfect now albeit after clean windows install. Fingers, crossed it was that as I said somewhere it was starting to play up prior to the case change anyway. No accces to cmd, WhatsApp or msi afterburner..for some reason.
