Im getting these BSOD's when i first turn my pc on each day, it blue screens then wants to check the harddrive occasionally.

where can i start to try to get rid of this?

What's your complete spec and is the system clocked?

For now try resetting the CMOS - and then load optimised defaults in the BIOS then save and exit.

as my good friend above says, reset CMOS. Do this first :)

Then check your Hard Disk Drive, Memory and PSU for faults.

HDD -Find out what hard drive you have and visit the manufacturers website. Download their diagnostics tool. This normally runs off a live CD so you'll need to set the BIOS to boot from disk first. Follow the instructions and run a full check. This will soon tell you if you have errors on the disk(s)

Memory - Follow my guide here:

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18261596

PSU - If the hard disk and memory look ok, then test your PSU. Again I have another guide:

http://www.huddysworld.co.uk/index....rking&catid=40:techie-talk-hardware&Itemid=72

Check one thing at a time thereby eliminating each component.

Let us know how you get on.

the bios is at default as its a new motherboard.
its a gigabyte 880gmud2h, x4 955, 2x2gb corsair XMS1333.
its all at stock settings. i do have cool and quiet enabled, could that be the problem(im thinking if theres not enough power getting through on initial start up)?

once its on however, its completely stable.

Follow Huddy's steps.

What's the PSU make/model and age?

Huddy's site and links are great - if you doubt the PSU's integrity follow the easy step by step guide that he's linked to above in his site.

EDIT: not forgetting to reset the CMOS and load optimised defaults too.
