what do you guys think about BSplayer, Ive been using VLC for a while but just cant seem to get the audio right on it for some reason. It always seems to have too much high end sparkle.

Just installed the free version of BSplayer and going to give that a go, anyone else use this?

thanks

*Edit

I have just answered my own question and done a side by side screen shot and BSplayer is aweful compared to VLC *uninstall

"BS" - it's in the name!

I used to use BSPlayer ages ago when it was good but they they changed it and made it pay only and then slowly it became crap.

MPC-HC is still the king though either with or without DivX 8 codec which adds DXVA for more HD formats than the stock filter in MPC.

Well I have just tried Zoom Player and it seems to be good, although there is no option to remove subtitles from a dvd rip?

I assume it's a solo AVI file or is the dvdrip contained within an mkv file?

If it's a solo AVI file with no subtitle file accompanying it then no you cannot remove the subs in any player as it's hardcoded into the video.

Hmm how have you muxed in selectable subtitles to an AVI because the AVI container only supports one video title and one audio title IIRC hence why the common container used is .mkv.

Any media/Codec info copy+paste from VLC possible in this thread? It sounds like it is an mkv file just the extension has been changed to avi - if this is the case you could change to mkv and see if it's selectable then.

Load the avi file into mkvmerge (useful tool) as that will show you what audio, subtitile and video tracks are contained within that video. Then you'll be sure on what you have and where to go from there.
