Is there a way to get your profile "reset" without having to contact BT?

It's happening once a week now, and it's getting quite frankly ridiculous when it takes 2-3 days to get it put back to 7MBit (so i'm getting about 4-5 days good use before it goes back down again).

I know the line is capable. BT are a bunch of freaking idiots - i'm fed up with phoning and getting told "it will get looked into", or having to bounce emails back and forth.

Can I do it manually somehow from my end?

Bt done this to me & kept my snr at 15 when it used to be at 9 thus making me have a 5.5mb sync instead of a 7mb. The only way I found to get round it was use the dgt firmware on my netgear 834gt router & brought my speed back to the 7mb mark. I found that BT would reset it for me but the dslam would knock it upagain, maybe the fact I have aluminium in my line, I hope U get it sorted.

I thought the profiles changed now whereby you only needed to hold the higher sync for a few hours and then it would speed up again?

Through persistent resetting of the router i've managed to get it back to 4MBit, which is much better, but still not what it's capable of.

However i'd still like to know if the profile can be reset manually when (and it will be back down by Friday) it happens.

Firegod, I was under the impression they had to do it at their end, or at least it won't go back up unless I ring BT. If I leave it, it stays slow.

Either you're connecting at a rate low enough to cancel the increase, or there's an issue with it getting stuck.

In exactly the same boat as you and for more than 12months we were on 8meg. But then we had a faulty line which was repaired two weeks ago and now were stuck on 6.2 with an ip profile of 2.1 :(

I hate BT with a vengance and now im the process of swapping isp's

Your only option is BT Wholesale. There are shedloads of options for ISPs, and some of them aren't staffed by retards...

So why does it all come up as not available?

(Excuse all the questions Tolien, I do appreciate the help but I just don't understand how it all works)

Why does what come up as not available?

If you're talking about Samknows, it's referring to LLU operators. There are loads of ISPs who use BT Wholesale: Zen, the Enta resellers, O2 Home Access, Sky Connect et al.
